Join a Trip
At Golden Trout Pack Trains we understand that it’s not always possible to get a group of four or more together for a trip. We have designed some trips that singles or couples can join and enjoy the company of other backcountry lovin’ folks. Some trips are designed with fly fishing in mind while others are for deer hunters.

But keep in mind that the fun is definitely not limited to fishing or hunting. The destinations are our personal favorites and we know you will love them too. We have designed three, four, and six day trips that run throughout the summer and fall. Each guest is limited to 30 pounds on the three and four day trips and 50 pounds on the six day trip.

Little Kern River
Three day fly fishing trip to the Little Kern River to catch Golden Trout. Our camp will be near the forks of Alpine Creek and Little Kern River. The Golden Trout here will average about 7" and there are plenty of them. It's a 2.5 hour horseback ride and the elevation is around 6,500.

Little Kern Lake
Four day fly fishing trip to Little Kern Lake to catch the big ones. Located on the Kern River, 16 miles from the Lewis Camp Trailhead. The Lake is on one side of camp and the Kern River is on the other side. You will be catching Kern Rainbow and German Brown Trout. Or simply enjoy the sun and sandy beaches. Don’t forget your inflatable boat for a good lazy afternoon on the water. This is about a six to eight hour horseback ride with an hour break for lunch at the half way point. The elevation is 5,500' and can still be cool at night even this time of the year.

Funston Meadow
A six day fly fishing trip to Funston Meadow to catch the big Kern Rainbow Trout and see some truly spectacular country. Funston Meadow is located about three miles above the Kern Ranger Station and 21 miles from the trail head. The first day we'll camp at Grasshopper which is right on the Kern River. It will be a four hour horseback ride with a one hour stop for lunch at the Little Kern Bridge. The second day will be a lot like the first but our destination will be Funston Meadow. We'll enjoy two days exploring all the fishing holes and spend two days getting back out. Don't forget your camera on this one!
